CHAPTER 221.

1812.

An act to alter the times of the meeting of the
Court of Appeals, and for other purposes.

Passed Jan. 7,
1812.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the court of appeals shall be holden for the Eastern
Shore, at the town of Easton, on the first Monday of
June, and the last Monday in November in each and
every year; and that from and after the first day of
February next, the court of appeals shall be holden
for the Western Shore, at the city of Annapolis, on
the last Monday in May and first Monday in Decem-
ber in each and every year; and that the said court to
be holden for the Western and Eastern Shores res-
pectively, in the months of June and December in
each and every year, shall be holden by the judges

thereof, or any three or more of them; Provided al-
ways, That any one or more of the said judges attend-
ing as aforesaid shall have power to make all neces-
sary rules and orders touching any suit, action, ap-
, peal, writ of error, process, pleadings or proceedings
returned to the said court held for the Western and
Eastern Shores respectively, or depending therein,
preparatory to, the hearing, trial or decision of such
action, suit, appeal, writ of error, process, pleadings
or proceedings; and so much of the act entitled, "An
act to provide for the organization and regulation of
the courts of common law in this state, and for the
administration of justice therein, " passed at Novem-
ber session in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and five, as provides for the holding of
the court of appeals at different or other times than
those herein mentioned, be, and the same hereby is re-
pealed.

Proviso.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall not
be necessary for the judges of the said court of ap-
peals or any of them, except the judge of the said
court resident in the second judicial district, to attend
the said court, to be holden at Easton for the Eastern
Shore, on the last Monday of November in each and
every year; and it shall be the duty of the judge of
the court of appeals resident in the second judicial
district to attend at the town of Easton, on the last
Monday in November next, and on the last Monday
in November in each and every year thereafter; who
shall have power to make all necessary rules and or-
ders touching any suit, action, appeal, writ of error,
