386                                  CERTIFICATES OF REFERENDA

1957, Ch. 759—St. Mary's County (2nd, 8th and 9th Districts)

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE OF MARYLAND
To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, CLAUDE B. HELLMANN, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE OF

MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 210 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition) DO
HEREBY CERTIFY, That at a Special Election held in St. Mary's County,
Maryland on Tuesday, August 20, 1957, an Act known as Chapter 759
of the Acts of 1957, was submitted to the voters of the 2nd, 8th and
9th Election Districts of St. Mary's County, for their adoption or re-
jection under the provisions of Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957, said
Act being:

"An Act requiring the County Commissioners to levy for the
year 1958 and annually thereafter a fire tax of not more than
fourteen cents on every One Hundred Dollars of the assessed
value of all real and personal property located in the 2nd, 8th
and 9th Election Districts".

AND I DO CERTIFY, that at said election held in the 2nd Election
District of St. Mary's County, Maryland 82 votes were cast in favor
of the adoption of said Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957; and 272 votes
were cast against the adoption of said Act; and a majority of the votes
being cast against the adoption of the said Act in the 2nd Election
District of St. Mary's County, said Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957
failed of ratification in the 2nd Election District of St. Mary's County.

AND I DO CERTIFY, that at said election held in the 8th Election
District of St. Mary's County, Maryland, 307 votes were cast in favor
of the adoption of said Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957; and 215 votes
were cast against the adoption of said Act; and a majority of the
votes being cast in favor of the adoption of the said Act the said
Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957 has been ratified by the voters of the
8th Election District of St. Mary's County.

and I DO CERTIFY, that at said election held in the 9th Election
District of St. Mary's County, Maryland, 23 votes were cast in favor
of the adoption of said Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1957; and 111 votes
were cast against the adoption of the said Act; and a majority of the
votes being cast against the adoption of the said Chapter 759 of the
Acts of 1957 the same has failed of ratification in the 9th Election
District of St. Mary's County.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my
