Speaker of the House of Delegates of Maryland, the President of
the Senate of Maryland, the President of the City Council of Balti-
more and through the Press, also to the citizens and voters of Balti-
more City.

(Senate Joint Resolution 7)

Senate Joint Resolution expressing the appreciation of the General
Assembly to the States of New Jersey and Pennsylvania for their
cooperation with the Joint Committee on Toll Roads.

WHEREAS, on February 3rd and 4th, the Joint Committee on Toll
Roads of the Senate and House of Delegates of Maryland, through
the gracious cooperation of the States of New Jersey and Penn-
sylvania, visited those States for a discussion of toll road problems
with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the Pennsylvania Turn-
pike Commission; and

WHEREAS, M's Lillian M. Schwartz, Secretary, Messrs. Henry E.
Rose, Director of Public Information, Ward Herbert, General Coun-
sel, and Neville R. Ashcroft, Comptroller of the New Jersey Turn-
pike Authority, and Messrs. Gerard B. Gilbert and Henry D. Shenk,
Assistants to the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commis-
sion, were most helpful and extremely courteous to the members of
the Joint Committee in lending their time for discussion, as well as
making available to the Committee the facilities of their organiza-
tions; and

WHEREAS, the New Jersey State Police unit on turnpike duty, con-
sisting of Captain George Probert, Lieutenant Joseph Mack, First
Sergeant James Roseberry, and Troopers Joseph Trainor, Frank
Trpisovsky and Glenn Sowash, and the staff of the Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission, consisting of Messrs. William H. Cooper, Jack
Todd, and Charles Sharp, provided transportation for the members
of the Joint Committee over the toll roads of their states and to the
officers of their respective turnpike authorities; now therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That as a small
token of their appreciation the members of the General Assembly
wish to express publicly their thanks to the New Jersey Turnpike
Authority, the New Jersey State Police, and to the Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission for their cooperation and assistance to the
Joint Committee, and hopes that the State of Maryland may have
an opportunity in return to extend the same courtesies to these States,
and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be instructed to send copies
of this Resolution to the New Jersey Turnpike Commission, New
