ed at the session of the general assembly of Maryland, held in
the year eighteen hundred and thirteen, to wit: Chapters 56,
84, 100, 103, 104, 105, 122, 131, 155, 149, 164, 165, 170,
172 and 178; and stitch the same in the manner heretofore ac-
customed, and deposit the same with the clerk of the council, by
him to he forwarded in the manner prescribed by law, to those
persons in Calvert, Saint-Mary's, and Charles counties, to
whom the laws of the present session of the general assembly
shall be forwarded.

CHAPTER. 246.

An act to authorise the Sale of a part of the Real Estate of
George Slacum, late of Alexandria, in the District of
Columbia.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the orphans court of Somerset county be and is hereby
authorised and empowered, in case it shall be deemed advanta-
geous to the heirs of George Slacum, late, of Alexandria, in the
District of Columbia, to appoint a trustee to sell and dispose of all
that part of the real estate of the said George Slacum, lying and be-
ing in Somerset and Worcester counties, at such time and upon such
terms, as shall be prescribed by the said orphans court; and
that upon the payment of the whole of the purchase money, the
said trustee shall convey the said real estate to the purchaser or
purchasers thereof, which conveyance, being duly made, shall
be sufficient to convey all the right, title, claim and interest, of,
in and to, the said real estate, which the said George Slacum
had at the time of his death.
2. And be it enacted, That the trustee to be appointed by the
said court, before he or she proceeds to the execution of the du-
ties hereby assigned to him, shall give bond to the state of Ma-
ryland, under such penalty as the said court may deem sufficient,
for the well and faithful performance of the same, which shall he
recorded by the. clerk of the said court, and the same, or an of-
fice copy thereof, may be put in suit by any person or persons
interested in the performance of the condition of the same.
3. Provided always, and be it enacted. That no sale made by
the trustee aforesaid, by virtue of this act. shall be good and va-
lid until the same be approved of by the said orphans court, and
in case such sale shall be rejected by the said court, the said
trustee shall proceed to sell again, and so from time to time un-
til such sale shall be approved by the said court.
4. And be it enacted, That the. said orphans court be and is
hereby authorised and empowered, to ascertain the proportion
of the proceeds of the sale of the said real estate which Jane H.
Slacum, widow of the said George Slacum, shall have in lieu of
her dower in the same, not exceeding one-seventh nor less than
one-tenth of the proceeds thereof; and the said court are further
empowered and directed, to have the balance of the proceeds of
said sale, after the payment of the debts, deducting the amount
so allowed for the widow's dower, and expenses, invested in
some safe and productive fund for the benefit of the heirs of the
said George Slacum.
