CHAPTER 99.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, A supplement to the act,
entitled, An act for opening a Road leading to Cumber-
land, and fur other purposes.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the several incorporated banks in the state, of Maryland
which did not comply with the requisition contained in the seventh
fieri ion of the act, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An
act for opening a road leading to Cumberland, and for other pur-
poses, passed January eighteen hundred and fourteen, in the
time specified in the said section, be and are hereby declared ab-
solved from the penalty imposed, provided that the said banks
have and shall hereafter comply with the terms imposed by the
said law.

CHAPTER 100.

An act to repeal and annul an Act, entitled, An act to au-
thorise a Lottery to raise a sum of money for the pur-
pose of Cutting and Opening a Canal from the Head
of Blackwater River to the Head of Parson's Creek, in
Dorchester County.
Whereas by an act of the legislature passed in January,
eighteen hundred and ten, authority was given to raise a sum of
money, by lottery, for the purpose of cutting a canal from the
head of Blackwater river to the head of Parson's creek, in Dor-
chester county, and the several persons named therein as mana-
gers have bonded as usual for the performance of the trust there-
in mentioned; and it being found impracticable to accomplish
the objects contemplated, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said act of assembly be repealed, and that the authority and
powers therein given be annulled, and that the bond aforemen-
tioned of the said managers, be henceforward inoperative and of
no effect, farther than as it may regard transactions of the said
managers under their authority aforesaid, previous to this act of
repeal.

CHAPTER 101.

An act to provide for the appointment of an Agent to
settle the claims of this State with the Government of
the United States.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the governor and council be, and they are hereby authorised
and empowered, to appoint an agent under their direction to li-
quidate and settle with the general government the necessary ex-
penditures which have been incurred by this state in providing
for the common defence during the late war.
2. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of the western shore
be and he hereby is authorised, to receive payment of the said
