RESOLUTIONS.

1819.

Resolved, That the governor be requested to transmit copies of the forego-
ing resolution to each of our senators and representatives in congress.

 

No. 71.
Resolved, That the governor be and he is hereby authorised and requested,
to purchase two copies of Kilty's laws and two copies of the new compilation,
and pay for the same by an order on the treasury of the western shore, and to
present one of said copies to the Athoeneum, a literary institution in Philadelphia,
the other to the American Antiquarian Society, a similar institution in the state
of Massachusetts, and one copy of the new compilation to the Baltimore Library
Company.

purchase of Kilty's

laws

No. 72.
Whereas, it appears to this general assembly, by the report of Perry Benson
and Lambert Reardon, who were authorised under the authority of the house of
delegates to examine and report the situation of the armoury at Eastern, that it
contains three thousand seven hundred and seventy-one muskets, three thousand
five hundred and fourteen bayonets, three thousand five hundred and sixty-two
cartridge boxes, two hundred and seventy two pistols, six hundred and eighty-
one holsters, two hundred and ninety-one artillery swords, and many other im-
plements of war, and that one fourth of the muskets are in a ruinous condition,
the other in tolerable order, the bayonets are in boxes covered with rust, the
swards, mounting and iron scabbards, are rusting to their destruction, the pistols
are most of them in good order except a parcel laying loose, dirty and rusty; there
are also sixteen cannon, one hall of which are in the armoury, the other half
laying on the ground subject to the abuse of idle people, some appear to be spiked
and their calibers filled with dirt and brick bats; Therefore,
Resolved, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised
and empowered, to cause the arms and accoutrements in the armament on the
eastern and western shores, to be repaired and cleaned, so far as they may deem
right and proper, and draw on the treasurer of the western shore from time to
time for a sum not exceeding two thousand dollars, as need may require for the
purpose aforesaid.
