(J) UPON APPOINTMENT, EACT EACH ASSESSOR SHALL
PERFORM HIS DUTIES UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE
SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS OF THE COUNTY OR OF THE
DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ASSESSMENTS OF
BALTIMORE CITY, AS THE CASE MAY BE, AND SHALL HOLD
HIS POSITION DURING GOOD BEHAVIOR, SUBJECT ONLY TO
REMOVAL BY THE STATE TAX COMMISSION, AFTER HEAR-
ING FOR INCOMPETENCY OR OTHER CAUSE.

(K) NOTHING HEREIN SHALL AFFECT THE POWERS AND
DUTIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ASSESSMENTS IN BALTI-
MORE CITY, AS PRESCRIBED BY LOCAL LAW AND ORDI-
NANCE.

(L) ALL ASSESSORS (BY WHATEVER TITLE DESIGNATED)
OF THE SEVERAL COUNTIES AND OF THE CITY OF BALTI-
MORE SHALL DEVOTE FULL TIME TO THE DISCHARGE OF
THEIR RESPECTIVE DUTIES.

(M) IN ANY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION IN WHICH THE
DESIGNATION OF CERTIFIED ASSESSMENT EVALUATOR
HAS BEEN OBTAINED, AND THE STATE TAX COMMISSION
SHALL HAVE APPROVED SUCH DESIGNATION, THE SAL-
ARY SCALE FOR SUCH POSITION SHALL BE $500 PER AN-
NUM GREATER THAN THE APPROPRIATE SUM DESIG-
NATE IN THE SCHEDULE HEREINABOVE IN THIS SECTION.
IN ANY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION IN WHICH THERE ARE
FIELD SUPERVISORS, THE SALARY SCALE FOR SUCH POSI-
TION SHALL BE $750 PER ANNUM GREATER THAN THE
APPROPRIATE SUM DESIGNATED IN THE SCHEDULE HERE-
INABOVE IN THIS SECTION.

(N) ANYTHING IN SECTION 234 OR 235 OF THIS ARTICLE
TO THE CONTRARY NOTWITHSTANDING, ALL PERSONS
WHO SHALL OCCUPY OR BE APPOINTED TO POSITIONS
MENTIONED IN SAID SECTIONS SHALL BE PAID THE MINI-
MUM RATE OF THE SALARY RANGES PRESCRIBED IN SAID
SECTIONS ON THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THESE SECTIONS;
PROVIDED THAT NOTHING HEREIN SHALL BE CONSTRUED
TO REDUCE THE AGGREGATE SALARY BEING RECEIVED
BY ANY PERSON AS OF JUNE 30, 1957, AS PROVIDED IN SUB-
SECTION (G) HEREOF.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1957.
