Amendment No. 2—Delete all of line 11 of Section 158A of the printed
bill and insert in lieu thereof the following: "more than fifteen days after
a cancellation notice has been sent by certified mail to the last known
address of".

Senator Wheatley, for the Committee on Finance, reported favorably,
with amendments,

Senate Bill No. 26—By Senators Nock and Mach:

Subject: "PUBLIC EDUCATION," subtitle "CHAPTER 27. FREE
SCHOLARSHIPS," ENACTING GENERALLY MORE UNIFORM AND
CONSISTENT PROVISIONS DETERMINING THE TERMS AND
VALUES OF THE VARIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS.

Senator Wheatley, offered the following amendments from the Com-
mittee from the floor.

Amendment to Senate Bill No. 26

Amendment No. 1—On page 2 of the printed bill in line 3 of the title,
counting from the top of page 2 and immediately following the word
"thereto" add the following: "; and making special provision for certain
tuition scholarships for Hood College and Western Maryland College dur-
ing the school year of 1964-65."

Which amendment was read and adopted.

Amendment No. 2—Following line 4 of Section 8 on page 8 of the
printed bill insert the following new section:

"Section 9. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act
shall be construed or applied to affect, for the school year 1964-65, the
tuition scholarships for Hood College from Frederick County or the
tuition scholarships for Western Maryland College from Carroll County,
that were available by law prior to the enactment of this Act or awarded
under such prior law.

Amendment No. 3—In line 1 of Section 9 on page 8 of the printed
bill strike out the numeral "9" and insert in lieu thereof the numeral "10".

Amendment No. 4—On page 2 of the printed bill in line 7 of Section
263 immediately following "board." insert the following: "Each student
accepting such an appointment shall pursue a course of study at the
College leading to a regular teacher's certificate in the public school
