Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), titled
"Appropriation—Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc." authoriz-
ing an appropriation of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) for current
expenses to the Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF WI-
COMICO COUNTY, MARYLAND, that Section 564-4 of Article 23 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Wicomico County (1965 Edition, being
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), titled "Appro-
priation—Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc.", be and the same is
hereby repealed and the following is enacted to be known as Section 564-4
and to read as follows:

Section 564-4. Appropriation—Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc.

The County Council of Wicomico County, Maryland, is hereby author-
ized and directed to levy the sum of [Seventy-Five Hundred Dollars
($7,500)] TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000) and appropriate the
same to the Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc. [to be used for capital
purposes in establishing an animal shelter and the County Council is
further authorized and directed to levy the sum of Six Thousand Dollars
($6,000) and appropriate the same to the said Wicomico County Humane
Society, Inc.] to be used during fiscal year [1969-19701 1971-1972 for
the purpose of operating and maintaining said animal shelter.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that this act, having
been passed by the County Council at its Legislative Session of June, 1971,
shall take effect August 15, 1971, unless a proper petition for referendum
thereof shall be validly filed prior to said date, in which event this act
shall not take effect until the expiration of thirty (30) days following
approval of this Act by a majority of the qualified voters of the County
voting in any such referendum.

An Act to repeal and re-enact Section 564-3 of Article 23 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Wicomico County (1965 Edition, being
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), titled
"Appropriation—Salisbury—Wicomico Economic Development Corpo-
ration", changing the authorized appropriated amount to said Agency
to Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000).
