Senate Bill No. 56 - Minimum Age for Licenses

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 33, 217(b) and 273 of
Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and
1972 Supplement), title "Licenses," subtitles "Traders," "Real Estate Brokers,"
and "Landscape Architects." respectively, to lower the minimum age from 21 to
18 years for certain licenses.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Constitution, I have
today vetoed Senate Bill 56.

This bill reduces the minimum age requirement for certain licenses from 21 to
18.

Section 26 of House Bill 299, which was enacted by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 24, 1973, accomplishes the same purposes as Senate Bill 56.
Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill 56.

Senate Bill No. 194 - Handgun Permit Review Board

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36E(g) of Article 27 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Handguns," to
provide that the Handgun Permit Review Board shall [[grant a hearing upon
request to any person whose application for or renewal of a permit has been
rejected, or whose permit has been revoked or limited by the Superintendent of
State Police.]] inform an applicant of the basis of its decision

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Constitution, I have
today vetoed Senate Bill 194.

This bill requires the Handgun Permit Review Board to inform an applicant of
the Board's decision and the basis therefor.

House Bill 506, which was enacted by the General Assembly and signed by me
on May 21, 1973, accomplishes the same purpose as Senate Bill 194 by requiring
