drain. Consequently, the need for House Bill 1533 has been obviated and, in light
of this meeting and agreement, the sponsor of the bill has informed me that he has
no objection to a veto.

For the foregoing fiscal reasons, and since the bill's purpose can be nevertheless
put into effect, I have decided to veto House Bill 1533.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel
Governor

Authorities," subtitle "In General"; to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,

Taxes," subtitle "What Shall Be Taxed and Where"; and to add new Section

after Section 9(n) thereof, relating to certain nonprofit housing corporations,
organizations, or institutions and tax exemptions and payments in lieu of taxes
or special assessments.

June 1, 1973.

Honorable Thomas Hunter Lowe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Constitution, I have
today vetoed House Bill 1564.

This bill exempts certain nonprofit housing corporations making payments in
lieu of taxes from payment of property taxes.

Senate Bill 1042, which was enacted by the General Assembly and signed by me
on May 21, 1973, accomplishes the same purposes as House Bill 1564.

Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill 1564.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel
Governor
