Estate"; to provide for the continuation of

certain terms of office; the transfer or

retention of certain property; the continuation
of certain pension rights and benefits; the
effect, construction, and effective dates of
provisions of the Act; to repeal inconsistent
laws; and to make the Act an emergency measure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, that a new Article of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, designated "Courts and Judicial
Proceedings," be and it is hereby enacted, to read as
follows:

TITLE 1. COURT STRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION.
SUBTITLE 1. DEFINITIONS.
SEC. 1-101. IN GENERAL.

(A)    IN THIS TITLE, THE FOLLOWING WORDS OR TERMS
HAVE THE MEANINGS INDICATED.

(B)   "CIRCUIT COURT" MEANS THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR
A COUNTY, THE SUPERIOR COURT OF BALTIMORE CITY, COURT
OF COMMON PLEAS, BALTIMORE CITY COURT, CIRCUIT COURT
OF BALTIMORE CITY, CIRCUIT COURT NO. 2 OF BALTIMORE
CITY, AND CRIMINAL COURT OF BALTIMORE, OR ANY OF THEM,
