DEPARTMENT OR AN ORGANIZATION APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY. The
Department may establish a service fee for those persons
participating in a proficiency testing program conducted by
the Department. If a physician fails to demonstrate
satisfactory performance, the Department shall notify the
Commission on Medical Discipline.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning
Board of Dental Examiners - Dental Hygienist
FOR the purpose of changing the term of office of the dental
hygienist on the Board of Dental Examiners to conform
with the terms of the other members of the Board.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 32 - Dentistry
Section 2A
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 32 - Dentistry
2A.
In addition to the dentist members of the Board there
shall be a dental hygienist member who may vote only on
matters directly affecting dental hygienists. In those
matters his vote shall count as fully as the vote of dentist
members. The dental hygienist member shall be a registered
and practicing hygienist, a resident of the State of
Maryland, and shall have been in an active practice in the
State for at least three years immediately preceding his
appointment. No member of the faculty or teaching staff of
any university or college in the State of Maryland which
offers undergraduate courses in dental hygiene shall be
eligible for appointment. The Governor, with the advice of
the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, shall appoint
