AN ACT concerning

Cecil County - Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Companies

FOR the purpose of increasing, in Cecil County, the tax rate on
assessable property to support certain volunteer fire on
fire and ambulance companies; altering the basis for
distribution of certain moneys; repealing certain obsolete
provisions; clarifying language; and generally relating to
funding of volunteer fire or fire and ambulance companies in
Cecil County.

Article 8 - Public Local Laws of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 8 - Cecil County

1-10.

(A)   [Effective July 1, 1970, the] THE BOARD OF County
Commissioners [of Cecil County are hereby directed to] SHALL levy
on the assessable property in Cecil County, annually, the sum
equivalent to [five] 6 cents [($.05)] per hundred dollars of
assessed valuation of taxable property within the county for the
purpose of assisting in the maintenance and operation of [nine] 9
volunteer fire OR FIRE AND AMBULANCE companies in Cecil County.
[Of this sum thirty-six thousand six hundred dollars
($36,600.00) ]

(B)  THE LEVY SHALL BE MADE JUNE 1ST AND THE SUM OF MONEY TO
BE PAID BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO EACH VOLUNTEER
FIRE OR FIRE AND AMBULANCE COMPANY SHALL BE PAID ON OR BEFORE
SEPTEMBER 1ST OF THE FISCAL YEAR FOR WHICH LEVIED.

(C)  (1) THE SUM OF $29,600 shall be allocated among the
[nine] 9 volunteer fire companies [in the amounts listed below.]
AS FOLLOWS:

(I)  CECILTON FIRE COMPANY, INC.                      $3,100

(II)  CHARLESTOWN FIRE COMPANY, INC. $3,000
