1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

MARYLAND, Sct.:

At a Session of the General Assembly of Maryland, begun and held in the City of
Annapolis on the Thirteenth Day of January, 1993, and Ending on the Twelfth Day
of April, 1993, William Donald Schaefer, being Governor of the State, the following
laws were enacted, to wit:

CHAPTER 1
(Senate Bill 204)

AN ACT concerning

Higher Education - State Aid to Nonpublic Institutions - Joseph A. Sellinger Program

FOR the purpose of naming the program of State aid to nonpublic institutions of higher
education the Joseph A. Sellinger Program.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Education
Section 17-101
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1989 Replacement Volume and 1992 Supplement)

Preamble

WHEREAS, Over the past 3 decades, Joseph A. Sellinger, S.J., has been one of
Maryland's most respected and influential educational, religious, and civic leaders, and
has made significant contributions to higher education and the citizens of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Father Sellinger's life has exemplified the best in Marylanders,
through his dedication to others and his visionary leadership; and

WHEREAS, Father Sellinger has been an inspiration and guiding light to so many
men and women, both young and old and all hold him in such high esteem and regard him
with love and devotion; and

WHEREAS, This man, known to many thousands of Marylanders simply as "Father
Joe," has lived with grace, good humor, joy and love, has touched the lives of countless
men and women with his devotion to learning, has exemplified the life of teaching,
