99 with the said John Reed to Keep the ferry over the north west fork of the Nanticoke Commonly called "Crotches Ferry" and agree to allow the said John Reed the sum of one Hundred & eighty Dollars Current money for the same Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John Reed shall faithfully & diligently Keep the said ferry over the North West fork of Nanticoke river commonly called the Crotches ferry from day light to day light from the first of november to the first March and from one hour before to an hour after light for the residue of the year Commencing on the first day of May 1843 and ending Twelve months thereafter and shall Keep constantly and in good order a scow that will safely carry six passengers and their horses at one trip with an able bodied and skilfull hand to attend the ferry aforesaid and shall not charge or receive any greater prices for ferriage than what is allowed by law then the above obligation to be void otherwise of force his Signed sealed & delivered John + Reed (seal) in the presence of mark Jno Newton his James Carroll Cyrus + Lord (seal) mark W H Akers (seal) Bond state of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond Ex.d from was recorded 17th april 1843 to wit Isaac Dunnock Know all men by these presents that we Isaac Dunnock Samuel Dunnock & Levin Dunnock of Dorchester County are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and Just sum of three Hundred dollars Current Money of the United States to be paid to the said State or its Certain attorney our heirs executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 17th day of april 1843 whereas the Commissioners for Dorchester County by Virtue of a supplement to the act entitle an additional supplement to the act entitled an act to regulate ferries have contracted with the said Isaac Dunnock to Keep the ferry over fishing Creek from Meekins Neck to Hoopers Island and agree to allow the said Isaac Dunnock the sum of one hundred & forty dollars current money for the same Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Isaac Dunnock shall faithfully and diligently Keep the said ferry over fishing Creek from Meekins Neck to Hoopers Island from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the residue of the year commencing the first day of May 1843 and ending Twelve months thereafter and shall Keep constantly and in good order a Boat or scow that will safely carry three passengers and their horses |
