presents:  Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that the said James
Nicolls, for and in consideration of the Premises, and for & in consideration
of the sum of five dollars, current money, to him in hand
paid by the said Thomas H. Hicks, at and before the sealing & delivery
of these presents, the receipt whereof the said James Nicolls doth hereby
acknowledge, and thereof & therefrom doth acquit, release, exonerate
and forever discharge the said Thomas H. Hicks, his heirs, executors
and Administrators, and every of them by these presents, hath granted,
bargained & sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell,
unto Thomas H. Hicks, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns,
all & singular the Household goods, Stock, Provender &c hereinafter
particularly mentioned & expressed; (that is to say) one black Horse
one Mare   one large brindle Ox   Four Cows   Two Calves   Two
Carts   Three Plows & Gear   one Harrow   one wheel barrow   Seven
Hogs   Eight Pigs   one Hoe   one Spade   one Shovel   one Pitchfork
together with the Crop of Oats now maturing, and the Crop of Corn now
pitched, and all other effects standing and being upon the Farm
said Nicolls resides on, and belonging to said Hicks   To have and
to hold all and singular the said Household goods, Stock, & provender
herein before granted, bargained & sold, or mentioned or intended so to be,
unto the said Thomas H. Hicks, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns,
to the only proper use & behoof of the said Thomas H. Hicks, his Executors
Administrators and Assigns forever.   In Witness whereof the said
James Nicolls hath hereunto set his name and affixed his Seal the
day & date within written.
Signed sealed & delivered in the               James Nichols   (seal)
presence of Charles Corkran

                                        Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:
on the seventh day of July in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight
hundred & fifty one, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace
in & for the said County, James Nicolls, party grantor and acknowledged
the within and aforegoing Bill of Sale to be his act & deed, according
to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same   And at the
same time came before me Thomas ^H.^ Hicks, party grantee within
mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God
that the consideration set forth, according to the true meaning of
the Act of Assembly of 1846, Chapter 271, made & provided.
Acknowledged before                        Charles Corkran.

Received the 7.th day of July 1851 of Thomas H. Hicks the sum of
one dollar in lieu of a stamp on the Bill of sale.
