FOR the purpose of requiring that a question be placed on the ballot in Somerset
County at the November general election of 1998 to determine the sense of the
voters of the County on the issue of changing the method of selecting members, of
the Somerset County Board of Education; providing for the carrying out of the
straw ballot; and generally relating to the holding of a straw ballot in Caroline
County.

And it is hereby certified that at said election, 1,516 votes were cast for the
adoption of said Chapter 293 and 3,791 votes were cast against the adoption of said
Chapter 293, the said Chapter 293 of the Acts of 1998 has therefore failed ratification.

Election Laws, Done at the City of Annapolis, this 30th day of November, In the Year
of Our Lord, One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety-eight.

STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in Frederick County on November 3, 1998, an Act
known as Chapter 645 the Acts of 1998 (Senate Bill 720) as submitted to the voters of
Frederick County in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 645 of the Acts of
1998, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT concerning

Frederick County - Alcoholic Beverages - Jefferson Election District

FOR the purpose of including the 14th Election District of Frederick County among
those districts in which beer and light wine or beer, wine and liquor licenses are
allowed; submitting this Act to a referendum of the legally qualified voters in
the 14th (Jefferson) Election District; requiring the Board of Supervisors of
Elections of Frederick County to send written notice to the Department of
Legislative Services regarding the results of the referendum when the results of
the referendum are certified; and generally relating to alcoholic beverages in
Frederick County.

And it is hereby certified that at said election, 713 votes were cast for the
adoption of said Chapter 645 and 801 votes were cast against the adoption of said
Chapter 645, the said Chapter 645 of the Acts of 1998 has therefore failed ratification.
