County praying an Additional Act may be made to levy a further
Quantity of Tobacco on the taxable Inhabitants of the said Parish
as will finish their new Church and Chappel and referred to the Con-
sideration of the Lower House of Assembly, recommending that
the Sum to be raised be in the Paper Currency of this Province.
Read the Petition of Several the Inhabitants of the middle Part
of Prince Georges Parish in Prince George's County praying that
an Act may be made to levy a Quantity of Tobacco on the taxable
Inhabitants of the said Parish to build them a Chappel of Ease in
the said Parish and referred to the Consideration of the lower House
of Assembly recommending that the Sum to be raised be in the Paper
Currency of this Province

We return our hearty and sincere Thanks to your Excellency for
your kind Speech at the opening this Session of Assembly and grate-
fully accept your Congratulation on the Marriage of the Princess
Royal to his Serene highness the Prince of Orange, and we take
Leave to assure your Excellency that this happy occasion has not

only made lasting Impressions of Joy and Satisfaction upon our
minds, but also obliges us with the Greatest Sense of Gratitude to
imitate the rest of his Majesty's faithful Subjects, in acknowledg-
ing his Paternal Care and Goodness so evident in that Particular
The many Blessings we Enjoy under his most Sacred Majestie's
wise and just Government together with that inestimable Privilege
of making Laws Suitable to our Constitution, and convenient for
promoting the Welfare & Prosperity of the good People of this
Province (If not inconsistent with the Trade and Interest of great
Brittain) will oblige us to Endeavour so to use these benefits as to
answer the End and Design of them, for as you are pleased justly to
observe the Advantages we shall reap from the Liberty of making
Laws will always be in proportion to the wisdom and Prudence that
