[Jos3 Beall, Lieut Ps Gs Cty to His Excellency Thomas Simm

Lee Esqr]

As the Prisoners sent from Charles County to the Sheriff here,
is not only a Burden to him, but a Considerable Expense to the
Publick in Keeping gard over them, I have ordered Capn Duvall to
take them from thence, & send them to Annapolis Under a guard of
an officer & six men of that Company, & deliver them to the com-
manding officer there

[W. Bordley, Chester Town, Kent Coty, To The honble Mathew
Tilghman Esq. President of the Special Council, Talbot]

I have employ'd Robert Blake to Slinge the Canteens & have made
enquiry about the Price of Leather, the lowest I can procure it for,
is 2/9 specie or the value in bills of credit pr pound, the price of
slinging them will be six pence a peice, but we want to know where
the money is to be had from, as those people will immediately want it,
Mr Blake says that he can make cartouch boxes to the number of four
or five hundred, we are making cartridges & shall very soon finish
our Lead. Capt Crane some years ago tann'd two hides for the pub-
lic, half of which he is to deliver for the above purpose.
P. S. We have wrote to Daniel Fisher & have sent to Baltimore
for Files for the Gunsmith

[Sam. Huntington, President, Philadelphia, to His Excellency,
Governor Lee.]
The United States in Congress assembled, deeming it proper &
necessary to communicate to their Constituents in the several States,
as fully as can be done, a proper Representation of their national
Affairs, the Amount of the public Debts due from the United States,
together with the Estimates for the current Year; having examined
& agreed to the Report of their Committee on that Subject of the
18th Instant, I do myself the Honor to transmit your Excellency a
Copy thereof.

Before the Rect of yours of this Morning We had discover'd the
Vessell standing up the Bay & looking into our River in Consequence
I Had order'd out the Militia & Lookout Boats Joshua Dorsey is
now in Calvert (I think) at his Sisters, the wife of a Late Mr Lane
or Capt Lane between Rollins & lower Marlbr There was nothing
among Cromwells papers that in the least Concern'd his present
Charge. I want a 2nd Lieut for Capt. Dickenson's Cy please appoint
Jacob Brown
