The house adjourns 'til 2 o'clock

Post meridiem. The house met according to adjournment. M.^r
Key has leave of absence.
M.^r Chase brought in and delivered to M.^r speaker, a bill entitled
an act for the security of purchasers and others being protestants,
claiming by or from aliens. Which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.
The order of the day being read, the house proceeded to an hearing
on the petition of John Hammond Dorsey; and after examination
of several witnesses, at the bar, referred the same for a further
hearing, to morrow morning.

Ordered that a further hearing on the petition of John Ham-
mond Dorsey be had at the bar of this house to morrow morning

The house met according to adjournment. The members were
called and all appeared, as on yesterday, except M.^r Key. The pro-
ceedings of yesterday were read.

M.^r Hanson, M.^r Ware, M.^r Smallwood, M.^r Gantt, and M.^r
Gresham have leave of absence

The question was put whether the bill entitled, an act for re-
covery of certain amerciaments, and also upon defaults on execu-
tions, do pass? Resolved in the affirmative. Sent to the upper
house by M.^r Baker and M.^r Cresap.
M.^r Ringgold brings in, and delivers to M.^r Speaker, the bill
entitled an act for granting to the Nanticoke indians a compensation
for the lands therein mentioned, amended according to the order
of the house. The question was then put, whether the said bill do
pass ? Resolved in the affirmative. Sent to the upper house by M.^r
Allen and M.^r Gale.
On reading, the second time, the bill entitled an act to prevent
any obstruction of the navigation in the River Potowmack; the
question was put whether the said bill do pass? Resolved in the
affirmative. Sent to the upper house by M.^r Baker and M.^r Cresap.

On motion ordered that a bill be brought in for appointing new
visitors to the public school in Frederick County, and for other
purposes therein mentioned; and that M.^r Jennings, M.^r Cresap, and
M.^r Chase do prepare and bring in the same.

On reading the second time, the bill entitled an act for the preser-
vation of the breed of fish; the question was put whether the said
bill do pass? Resolved in the affirmative. Sent to the upper house
by M.^r Baker and M.^r Cresap.
