Thursday 12th. March 1789
The Council met.

In Council March 12th. 1789

John Denwood Esquire Collector of taxes for Somerset County, having prayed the in-
dulgence which by an Act of Assembly passed at their last Session entitled "An Act to em-
power the Governor and Council to compound with the discoverers of british property and for
other purposes" this Board [p. 44] is authorized to grant on certain Conditions the
said John Denwood has complied with and the Board being of Opinion that he has used his
best endeavors to discharge the balance he owes the State. Resolved that no execution issue
against the said John Denwood or his Securities for the recovery of the balance due from him
to the State for the taxes in Somerset County aforesaid for the year 1786 for three Months
from the date hereof.

The like indulgence granted to Joshua Townsend Esquire Collector of taxes in Worcester
County for the year 1786.

His Excellency John Eager Howard Esqr. attended.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Ringgold One hundred and
thirteen pounds, ten shillings specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the debts due from this
State" per Certficates adjusted by the Auditor General due the ist. September 1787.

In Council March 12th. 1789

Lambert Hyland Esqr. Collector of taxes for Somerset County, having prayed the in-
dulgence, which by an Act of Assembly passed at their last Session entitled "An Act to empower
the Governor and Council to compound with the discoverers of british property and for other
purposes" this Board is authorized to grant on certain Conditions, which Conditions the said
Lambert Hyland has complied with, and the Board being of Opinion that he has used his best
endeavors to discharge the balance he owes the State—Resolved that all proceedings at Law
against the said Lambert Hyland or his Securities for the balance due from him to the State
for the taxes in Somerset County aforesaid for the years 1784 and 1785 be Suspended for three
Months from the date hereof.

Ordered that the Clerk transmit to the Eastern shore a sufficient number of Copies of the
following notice:

Annapolis In Council March 12th. 1789

One hundred dollars is hereby offered as a Reward for the apprehending and committing
to the Custody of the Sheriff of Queen Anns County, George Robinson who being under
Sentence of Death lately broke out of the Jail of the said County, the said sum to be paid [p.
45] by the Governor and Council on producing a Certificate from the Sheriff that the said
Robinson is apprehended and secured.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
