[Dec. 2] DEBATES 1639

tion No. 19, calling for the extension of the
sessions of this Convention until January
12. There is no alternative available to the
Convention, other than to extend the ses-
sion for the full time, because we have only
one opportunity to extend.

There is very strong likelihood that we
will not need the full time, but the chair-
man necessarily hopes that we can con-
clude consideration of all committee recom-
mendations by the 12th of December, take
a brief recess so that the committees, the
staff, and particularly the Committee on
Style can very thoroughly and quietly re-
view everything that has been done, and
then have the Convention come back again
into session for a few days to correct any
errors that may have been made, and to
adopt the report, finally.

The Chair and your officers, and the
Chairman of the Committee on Calendar
and Agenda believe with the kind of work
that we have been having in the recent
weeks that it will be possible to follow this
kind of schedule and still have a sine die
adjournment before Christmas. The Chair
therefore requests the Committee on Calen-
dar and Agenda to arrange a meeting at
such time as necessary to enable it to pre-
sent a report on Resolution 19 to the Con-
vention at its session on Monday afternoon.

The Chair recognizes Delegate Powers.

Before recognizing Delegate Powers, are
there any announcements by committee
chairmen that might be made?

(Whereupon, the motion was duly sec-
onded.)

signify by saying Aye; contrary, No. The
Ayes have it. It is so ordered.

(Whereupon, at 12:40 P.M., the Conven-
tion was recessed to reconvene at 2:00
P.M., on the same day.)
