which was sealed up and delivered to Messrs. Kimmel and Pratt,
who were charged to count the ballots and report the result.  They
returned, and after a time returned and reported that they have
found there were ten votes given for President of the United States
of America, all of which were for William Henry Harrison, of
the State of Ohio.
            The ballots of the Electors were in like manner again deposited
in the ballot box, which was sealed up and delivered to Messrs.
Kimmel and Pratt, who were charged to county the ballots and
report the result.  They retired and after a time, returned and
reported that they had found there were Ten votes given for
Vice President of the United States of America, all of which were
for John Tyler, of the State of Virginia.
            Whereupon, it was declared,  that William Henry Harrison,
of the State of Ohio, had received Ten votes being the whole number
to which the State of Maryland is entitled for President of the
United States of America, and that John Tyler, of the State of
Virginia had received Ten votes being the whole number to
which the State of Maryland is entitled, for Vice President of the
United States of America.
            Mr. Bowie, from the committee appointed to prepare and
report a form of certificates, submitted the following, which
was read and adopted.

            To the Honorable, The President of the Senate of
the United States of America.
            We the undersigned duly elected Electors of President
and Vice President of the United States of America, on and
for the State of Maryland as will fully appear by reference to the
annexed Documents, being the Certificate furnished by the Executive
Authority of the State of Maryland, and an abstract from the Proceedings
of the Electors of President and Vice President of the
United States, in and for the State aforesaid, do hereby certify that
on the First Wednesday in December, in the year one Thousand
Eight Hundred and Thirty six, we met, at the City of Annapolis,
in said State, being the place where, by the Laws of the State of Maryland,
the Electors of President and Vice President of the United
States, on the part of said State, are directed to meet to perform the
trust reposed in them; and that then and there, having duly qualified
and organized, William Henry Harrison, of the State of Ohio,
was put in nomination for President of the United States of
America, for the four years from and after the Third day of March
