The Senate then proceeded to the further order of the day, The Senate bill entitled an Act to encourage Immigration.
The President stated the question to be the amendment The amendment was rejected.
The question then being upon the engrossment of the said Mr. Stevens submitted the following amendment:
Strike out "England and Scotland," and insert "of Which, was adopted. Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment:
Section 4, line 3, strike out the word "Berlin" and insert Which was adopted. Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment: Section 6, line 2, strike out the words "on Locust Point." Which was adopted. Also, the following amendment;
Section 6, line 25, amend by adding after the word ''no- Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the second time. |
