316 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27,

On motion by Mr. McLane,

Leave was granted to withdraw from the files of the Sen-
ate the bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of the General
Assembly of Maryland of January Session, 1864, Chapter
242, entitled an Act to incorporate the Safe Deposit Company
of Baltimore, and the several Acts amendatory thereof.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

Leave was granted to Senators Ford, Miller and Lee to
introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to appoint an additional
Justice of the Peace for the Second Election District of
Queen Anne's County, to reside in the town of Crumpton.

On motion by Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted to Senators Miller, Ford and Lloyd to
ntroduce a bill to be entitled an Act to appoint an additional.
Justice of the Peace for District No. 5, of Talbot County.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act for the relief of Major S. J.
Dawson, of Dorchester County.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal the
rule in Shelley's case, and to conform the construction of
last wills and testaments to the real intention of the testator.

On motion by Mr. Hepbron,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to refund to Samuel Burgess,
late Collector of Taxes of the Fifth District of Kent County,
money erroneously paid into the Treasury.

Mr. Joyce, from the 'Committee on Corporations, reported
favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to consolidate and unite into
one corporation ''The Washington University of Baltimore,"
and "The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Baltimore
City."

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Lee, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
unfavorably,

House bill entitled an Act repeal Sections 99 and 102, of
Article 1, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Alle-
