The Commission will notice from the above list that there were a
large number of changes in the staff during the year. Mr, Allison
Trader resigned to accept employment at the Naval Experimental
Station. Mr. Emil Fossan resigned to become a translator for the War
Department in Washington. Both Mr. Trader and Mr. Fossan are
now in the United States Army. Miss Joan Knight resigned to become
a member of the Hospital Staff at Camp Meade and Miss Katherine
Held left the Hall of Records to become an assistant in the office of
the Registrar of Goucher College. Mr. Trader was succeeded by Mr.
Arthur Miller who also resigned to resume his work as an independent
photographer. New members of the staff are Mrs. Margaret White,
who is in charge of photoduplication; Mrs. Sallie Stainback, Secre-
tary ; Mrs. Imogene Hollywood, General Assistant; and Mr. Roger
Thomas, Librarian, Since last January the Hall of Records has em-
ployed Miss Mary Janney and Mrs. Grace Lawton as day and night
operators of the microfilm camera, and Mr. George Garner as night
operator of the photostat. These three employees are paid out of
emergency funds altogether.

The NYA which supplied the Hall of Records with as many as
thirty-five workers at one time has now disappeared and with it this
valuable help. From a top figure of eight our WPA clerical projects has
been reduced to one whose work is confined to preparations for the
evacuation of archival materials and the business of the Committee
for the Conservation of Cultural Resources.
