CHAP. 179.

by him adjusted, to be paid by the person making the ap-
plication

Keeper of standard

&c.

Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the Commissioners of
the said county may, at their discretion, appoint a keeper of
the standard of weights and measures, who shall take pos-
session thereof, and perform all the duties herein required to
be performed by their Clerk, and shall be entiled to the same
compensation for such services, and the said keeper hereby
authorised to be appointed, shall give bond to the Commis-
sioners aforesaid, in the penal sum of five hundred dollars,
conditioned for the safe keeping of said standards of weights
and measures, and the performance of the duties prescribed
by this act

Penalty for false

weights &c

Seq 3 And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
in said county, shall sell by any weights or measures too
light or small, he, she, or they, shall be liable to a penalty
not exceeding twenty five dollars for each and every offence
upon conviction, upon indictment in the county court

Repeal

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That all such part or ports of
the original act to which this is a supplement, so far as
relates to Anne Arundel county, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

CHAPTER 179.

Passe Mar 5, 1835

An act for the relief of John D Ward, former Sherriff of
Calvert County

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, that John D Ward, former sheriff of Calvert coun-
ty, be and he is hereby authorised to collect, until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty six, all fines,
forfeitures, amerciaments, officers fees, or public dues,
which were placed in his hands for collection, and all legal
fees made by him while sheriff, or that he was entitled to
by virtue of said office of sheriff, and which have not been
collected, in the same manner as he could or might have
done within the time limited by law

Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the said John D Ward,
before he proceeds to execute the body or property of any
person or persons, for fees, forfeitures, amerciaments, offi-
cers fees, or public dues, by the authority of this act, shall
