afd John Jones Should not be of Good Behaviour and now at this Court to wit the
twenty first Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Six
the s.d John Jones haveing appeared the afd John Wooddall & Humphry
Younger their Recognizances and Either of them is Discharged

    Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Honble the Lord prop.ry that now
is for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that John Jones
of S.t pauls parish in the County afd Labourer the fifth Day of Aprill Anno
Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty five at the parish afd in the County
afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Nora
Thornton in the peace of God and of the s.d Lord prop.ry then and there
being with force and Arms an Assault Did make and her the s.d Nora then
and there Did beat wound and Evilly treat so that of her life it was much
Dispaired and other harms to her then and there Did to the Great Damage
of the said Nora and against the peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is
his Good Rule and Dignity &c.a

A true bill p.r Sam.l Wickes foreman
And the afd John Jones in his proper person Comes and Saith that he is in
no Sort Guilty of y.e assault within mentioned upon him Imposed as by
the Indictment is Supposed and of this he puts himself upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in the manner Saith he is Guilty
                                                    T francis p Lord prop.ry

    And now here ^afterwards^ to wit this twenty first Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred and twenty ^Six^ Comes here into Court the afd John Jones ^in his proper person^ & Relinquishes
the plea afd and Saith that he Cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd so as
afd against him brought nor but that he is Guilty of the premisses above
upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged & thereupon
Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit
at the Court house in Town of Chester in s.d County this twenty first Day
of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Six that the afd John
Jones pay the Sume of five Shill.s Current money of Maryland as a
fine for his afd offence of Committing an Assault and Battery on the
afd Nora Thornton and the Sume of three hundred and Seventy three
