Kent County fs.t Memorand.m that Tench Francis Gentl Attorney of the Right
Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is for the County afd who for the same Lord prop.ry in this
part prosecuteth doth Come here into his said Lordships County Court of Kent County the twenty
Seventh Day of September in the Year of Our Lord God One thousand seven hundred
and twenty six in his proper pson And for the same Lord prop.ry doth give the Court
here to understand and be informed that Bartholomew Collins of S.t pauls parish
in the County afd Labourer the twenty sixth Day of September Anno Dom. seventeen
hundred twenty and six at the parish afd in the County afd with in the Jurisdiction
of this Court in and upon a Certain James Clark in the peace of God ^&^ of the said
Lord prop.ry then and there being with force and Arms and Assault did make
and him the said James then and there did beat wound and Evilly treat so that
of his Life it was much Dispaired And other harm to him then and there did
to the great Damage of the said James And against the peace of the said
Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule and Dignity Whereupon the said
Tench Francis prayeth the advice of the Court here in the premisses for the s.d
Lord prop.ry and that due process of Law may issue against the said Bartholo:
in his part to Answer unto the said Lord prop.ry of and upon the premisses
                                                                        T francis Cler. pac.

    And the af.d Bartholomew Collins in his proper person Comes and saith
that he Cannot gainsay the Information af.d so as afd against him brought nor
but that he is guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd
Information it is alleadged and thereupon Submitts to the Court

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the
Town of Chester in said County this fifteenth Day of November Anno Dom.
seventeen hundred twenty & Six that the afd Bartholomew Collins pay to the
Lord prop.ry of this province ten pounds of Tobacco as a fine for his afd Offence
for Committing an Assault and Battery ^as by the afd Information it is aledged^ as also the sum of three hundred &
Sixty pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing on the premisses af.d to the Officers of
this Court                                                                            Jam.s Smith Clk

    Ordered by the Court here to wit the Day and Year afd that the Sherrf of Kent
County keep him the said Bartholomew in safe Custody untill he shall satisfie
the fine and fees in the Judgment afd Specefied in the whole Amounting to
