force and Arms an Assault Did make and the said Daniel then and there Did
beat wound and Evilly treat so that of his life it was much Dispared and
other harms to him then and there Did to the great Damage of the Same
Daniel and Contrary to the peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is his
good Rule and Government &c            T francis Cler. pac.

    On y.e Back of y.e preceeding Indictment was as foll.s viz.t
    True Bill Sam.l Groome foreman

    And the afd James in his proper person Cometh and Saith that he is
in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd
Indictment it is alledged and thereupon he putteth himself upon the
Country                                        Jam.s Watson in p.a psona

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty
                                                                    T francis p Lord prop.ry

    And the said James Watson afterwards to wit the Day and year afd Comes into
Court and relinquishes his plea afd and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the
Indictment afd so as afd against him brought nor Can he Say but that
he is guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd
Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here this twenty fifth Day
of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seaven that y.e
said James Watson pay the Sume of one hundred pounds of Tob.o
as a fine for his afd offence of Committing an assault and Batery
in form afd Confest and also that he pay the Sume of four hundred and
thirty five pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to y.e
officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that the Sher of Kent County keep him the s.d
James Watson in safe Custody untill he Shall Satisfie y.e fine and fees
in the Judgment afd Specified Amounting to five hundred and thirty five
pounds of Tob.o
