80 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

The order relative to closing the journal of accounts was read the second time and dissented from.

The report of the committee on the memorial of Jubb Fowler was read the second time, the resolution there-
in assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order, assented to, and sent to the
senate by the clerk.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to the examiner-general of the western shore such
sum, in addition to his fees for the present year, as shall amount to the sum of three hundred pounds current
money, and the examiner-general shall lay before the next session of assembly the amount of fees by him re-
ceived in this year, on oath.

The bill authorising a lottery in the city of Baltimore to raise n sum of money for the purposes therein men-
tioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill to lay out and open a public road in the direction herein after mentioned in Baltimore county, was
read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to prevent any obstruction of the navigation in the river Patow-
mack, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, ORDERED, That the supplement to the act, entitled, An act to lay out and open a road from the
Pennsylvania line to the Susquehanna canal in Caecil county, be recommitted for amendment.

The resolution in favour of Frederick Green, was read the second time, and the question put, That the house
assent to the same? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

A petition from Thomas Porter, of the city of Baltimore, praying an alteration in his name, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Cox, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Porter, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Cox. from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to prevent swine from going at
large in North Sassafras, West Sassafras and Bohemia Hundreds, in Caecil county, and a bill, entitled, An act
to prevent swine and geese going at large in Frederick-town, in Caecil county; which were read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Dennis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Bonner, of Dorchester county, praying the
general assembly to confirm his title to a tract of land lying in the said county, called The Widow's Purchase,
which was heretofore purchased by him of a certain Joseph Daffin for a valuable consideration, to which land it
is stated a chin; has lately been set up by Mrs. Anne Muse and Miss Elizabeth Ennalls, and a suit brought for
the recovery thereof, on account of a supposed defect of title in the said Joseph Daffin, report, that there
is a bill on your table of a general nature, which, if passed, will meet the prayer of the petitioner. All which
is submitted, and hope to have leave to withdraw the papers.

By order, J. S. SKINNER, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

Mr. Hall, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Ferguson report, that they have examined
into the facts stated in said petition, and find, that the said William Ferguson, on the llth day of December,
1793, made known to the agent of the state of Maryland, that two lots of ground lying in George-town, ad-
joining Mr. Stoddert's, late Jeptha Hollingsworth's or one Stewart, and a tract or parcel of land lying in Prince-
George's county, called Turkey Thicket, supposed to contain about one hundred acres of land, adjoining Mrs.
Morduit and Josias Ray's land; that on the 21st day of November, 199, Robert Brent, Esquire, purchased of
the agent the state's right in and to fifty acres, part of the said land, for the price or sum of one hundred and
fifty pounds current money, and passed his bond to the state for that amount, and that the residue of the said
land, lying in Prince-George's county, remains undisposed of. Your committee also find, that on the 20th day
of May, 1801, the said Robert Brent paid to the treasurer of the western shore the said sum of £150, with
the interest clue thereon, amounting in the whole to the sum of one hundred and sixty-three pounds ten shillings
current money; that by law the agent was authorised to allow to the discoverer of confiscated British property
one third part of the value thereof, but in as much as the whole amount of the purchase money for the land
aforesaid has been paid into the treasury, the petitioner cannot now obtain his part thereof without the inter-
position of the legislature; your committee therefore submit the following resolution:
