So it was resolved in the affirmative.
The following resolution was read.

Whereas the duties imposed on the chief judge of the sixth judicial district are peculiarly arduous, therefore,
RESOLVED, That there be allowed to the chief judge of the sixth judicial district the sum of six hundred dol-
lars, in addition to the. salary now allowed him by law.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to provide for the making an alteration in the road therein menti-
oned, the bill making compensation to the criers of the court of appeals, and the sheriffs attending the said
courts for the preservation of order therein, the bill authorising the collection of certain ground-rents due on
lots in the town of Cumberland, in Allegany county, the bill to prevent swine from going at. large in North.
Sassafras, West Sassafras and Bohemia Hundreds, in Caecil county, the bill to prevent swine and geese going
at large in Frederick-town, in Caecil county, and the further supplement to an act, entitled, An act to streight-
en part of the road in Harford county which leads from Underhill's mill to the city of Baltimore, severally
endorsed " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the supplement to the bill for the relief of sundry in-
solvent debtors, endorsed " will not pass. " Also the resolutions in favour of Ninian Pinkney, John Brewer,
Richard Butler, Samuel Moale, William Ferguson and Joseph Howard, and others, severally endorsed "dis-
sented from. " And the resolution relative to the land-office, endorsed " assented to. "

On motion, the question was put, That the house reconsider the bill to ascertain and establish a permanent
salary to the governor of this state? Resolved in the affirmative.

On progression, the question was put, That the blank therein be filled up with the words " Tour thousand?"
Determined in the negative.
