96 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate

by the clerk.

RESOLVED, That so much of the resolution which passed during the present session of assembly, appropri-
ating money for repairing and furnishing the government-house, as relates to furnishing the same, be arid the
same is hereby rescinded.

The engrossed bills from No. 62 to 89, inclusive, were read and assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk-
On motion, the question was put, That the house dispense with the 16th rule thereof? The house being
equally divided, it was declared in the affirmative by the speaker.

The house proceeded to the second reading of the resolution relative to the chief judge of the sixth judicial
district, and the question put, That the words "fifth and" be inserted between the words " the" and "sixth?"
Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the words " third and" be inserted in the same place? Determined in the

negative.

The question was then put, That the said resolution be referred to the next general assembly? The yeas and
nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

The following resolution was read.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and required to subscribe,
for and in behalf of this state, for —— shares in the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, and for ——— shares in
the Farmers Bank of Maryland, reserved for this state, and immediately pay to the presidents and directors of
the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore and the Farmers Bank of Maryland the amount of the shares so respectively
subscribed for.

On the second reading of the same by especial order, the question was put, That the words " shares in the
Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, and for" be stricken out? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the house assent to the said resolution? Resolved in the affirmative; which
was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The following message was read, agreed to, and, with the bill relating thereto, sent to the senate by the clerk.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, January 4, 1807.
Gentlemen. of the Senate,

WE find that the senate have negatived trie bill, entitled, A supplement to au act, entitled, An act fol- the
relief of sundry insolvent debtors. By. the provisions, of the original law many persons will be deprived of the
benefit of it, unless some change takes place.

We have therefore returned the bill for your reconsideration, and hope that you may finally pass it.

By order, J. BREWER, clk.

The clerk of the senate delivers the journal of accounts, endorsed " assented to; " and the bill for the pay-
ment of the same, endorsed " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the resolution directing desks for
the house of delegates, endorsed " assented to. " The resolution rescinding the resolution relative to the go-
vernment-house, endorsed "dissented from. " And the bill to ascertain and establish a permanent salary to
the governor of this state, endorsed " will not pass. " Also the following message:

By the SENATE, January 4, 1807.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,

WE have received your message, informing us you have finished the business before you. We have nothing
on our table to be acted on, but we would suggest the necessity of making, before we close the session, some
