14 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby directed and required to pay -to
Archibald Gordon, of Caecil county, late a meritorious soldier in the revolutionary war, or to his order, in
quarterly payments, a sum of money equal to the half pay of a private, as a provision to him in his indigent
situation when advanced in life, and as a further remuneration to him for those services by which his country
has been so essentially benefitted.

All which is submitted.

Mr. Davis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out a certain road in.
Harford county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, November 11; 1807;

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The resolution in favour of Frederick Green was read the second time, assented to, and sent to the senate by
the clerk.

Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out and make a public
road in Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Hawkins, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Thomas.
Dilworth, of Frederick county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from Nathaniel Rochester, late sheriff of Washington county, praying a further time to complete
'his collection, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Bowles, Mr. Schnebly and Mr. Mitchell, to consider
and report thereon.

A memorial from Robert Leatherbury, of Somerset county, praying the levy court may be directed to levy a
sum sufficient to reimburse him for expenses in supporting insolvent debtors while acting as sheriff, was prefer-
red, read, and referred to Mr. Jackson, Mr. King and Mr. Sudler, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Forwood, Mr. Davis ami Mr. Seth, have leave of absence.
Mr. Streett, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report r

Whereas the auditor-general was directed, by a resolution passed at the last session of the general assembly,
to examine and report to the present general assembly what sum of money, if any, is due to William Amos,
senior, of Harford county, on account of a claim in behalf of the state, at the instance of the late intendant;
to settle the lines of a tract of land lying in Harford county, called The Grove, whereby the state has been ma-
terially benefitted: And whereas the auditor-general has reported favourable, the petitioner having produced
sufficient vouchers to substantiate his claim aforesaid to the satisfaction of the auditor, and your committee be-
ing of opinion that the claim of the petitioner is reasonable; therefore RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the
western shore pay unto William Amos, senior, of Harford county, or order, the sum of one hundred and
fourteen pounds seventeen shillings and ten-pence halfpenny, out of any unappropriated money in the treasury.

Which was read.

A petition from William Ferguson, praying he may be paid one third of the purchase money received by the
state for land confiscated upon information given by him, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr.
Shaaff and Mr. Page, to consider and report thereon.

The following order was read.

ORDERED, That the name of any member asking leave to bring in a bill, or offering a resolution, shall be in-
serted on the journals.

And the question put, That the house assent to the same? Determined in the negative.

The following order was read.

ORDERED, That the committee to whom the communication from the executive was referred, examine into the
returns and accounts of the armourers for the western and eastern scores, and report to this house the number
and state of the arms and accoutrements in the arsenal at Frederick-town, in Frederick county, and at Talbot-
town, in Talbot county, and the city of Annapolis.

And the question put, That the house assent to the same? Resolved in the affirmative.

The following message being read and agreed to, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 11, 1807.
Gentlemen of the Senate,

WE have appointed Mr. Kerr, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Greenwell, Mr. W. H. Brown, Mr. Stone, Mr. Henry and
Mr. J. L. Spencer, a committee on the part of this house to join such gentlemen as may be appointed by you, to
form A committee of both houses to compare and examine all bills from time to time during this session as soon
as they shall be severally engrossed.

The clerk of the senate delivers the resolution in favour of Frederick Green, endorsed, "assented to. "
