into a bill which foll. viz.t Kent County fs The Jurors for the Right
Honourable the Lord proprietarie that now is for the body of Kent County
afd upon their Oath do present that John Mazier late of S.t pauls parish in
the County afd Mariner the Twelfth day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and
thirty one at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court in
and upon a Certain john Major in the peace of god and of the Said Lord Prop.ry
then & there being with force and Arms and assault did make and him the
afd John Major then and there did beat wound & evilly Treat So that of his
life it was much dispaired and other harms to him then and there did to
the great damage of the Same John Major and Contrary to the peace of
the Said Lord Propry that now is his good Rule & government &c.

    And the afd John Mazier in his proper person comes and in his proper
person appears and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment
afd So as afd against him bro.t nor but that he is guilty of the
premisses above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is
alledged and thereupon Submits to the Court    Therefore it is
Considered by the Court here to wit at the Court House in the Town of
Chester in Said County on the third Tuesday in June being the fifteenth
day of Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty one
That the afd John Mazier pay the Sum of Six hundred pounds of Tobacco
as a fine for his offence of Committing the assault afd And also pay the
Sum of three hundred and Six pounds of Tobacco Cost accrueing on the
premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    M.r Joseph Young Sherrife of Kent County being present in Court
Saith that he will pay the fine afd to his Lord Ship the L.d Honourable the Lord
proprietarie &c.a  As also Arthur Miller of Said County assumes the fees
afd accrueing as afd
