date of this Act, or the respective parts thereof, as the case
may be.

SEC. 11. And be it further enacted, That Sections 2, 3, 4, 5,
7, 8, 9 and 10 of this Act shall take effect June 1, 1941, and
Sections 1 and 6 of this Act shall take effect October 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 907.

(House Bill 712)

AN ACT to add 33 new sections to Article 23 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Corporations", sub-
title "Cooperative Associations", to be under sub-heading
"Electric Cooperatives", said new sections to be known as
Sections 460 to 492, inclusive, and to follow immediately
after Section 459 of said Article, relating to the organiza-
tion, operation and management of cooperative electric
associations for the purpose of supplying electric energy,
promoting and extending the use thereof and relating to the
powers and duties thereof.

SECTION 1. Be It enacted by the General Assembly of Mary*
land. That 33 new sections be and they are hereby added to
Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Corporations", sub-title "Cooperative Associations", to
be under sub-heading "Electric Cooperatives", said new sec-
tions to be known as Sections 460 to 492, inclusive, to follow
immediately after Section 459 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

460. Short Title. This Act may be cited as the "Electric
Cooperative Act.

461. Purpose. Cooperative, non-profit, membership cor-
porations may be organized under this sub-heading for the
purpose of supplying electric energy and promoting and ex-
tending the use thereof.

462. Definitions. In this sub-heading:

(a) "Cooperative" means any corporation organized under
this sub-heading or which becomes subject to this sub-heading
in the manner hereinafter provided; and

(b) "Person" means any natural person, firm, association,
corporation, business trust, partnership, Federal agency, State
or political subdivision or agency thereof, or any body politic.
