sheriff and collector of Kent county, be and they are here-
by authoiized and empowered to collect the taxes and fees
due to the said Philip O. Travilla, as former sheriff and

chap 347.

collector of Kent county; provided, that the said securi-
ties, before they shall proceed to execute for the same,
shall leave at the residence of the person or persons a list
of the said taxes and fees, and for the years that the same
may be due at least thirty days previously thereto.
|
Proviso.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this law shall go into
operation from and immediately after its passage, and
shall continue in force until the first day of August, eigh-
teen hundred and forty-five.

CHAPTER 347.

An act for the relief of the Devisees of Cornelius Howard.
Whereas, by the last will and testament of Cornelius
Howard, late of Baltimore county, deceased, it is pro-
vided that William George Read, of the city of Baltimore,
shall divide the estate of the said testator into thirteen
equal shares, one of which shares is devised and bequeath-
ed to each of the several parlies named in said will; and
doubts have been suggested whether under the laws of
this state the partition of the estate aforesaid, as directed
by the said bill, can be made matter of record—Therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the clerk of Baltimore county court, be,
and he is hereby authorized and required to lecord among
the land recoids of Baltimore county, the return or state-
ment which may be made by the said William George
Read, of his acts and doings in the partition of the said
estate, and of the alloment of the several shares thereof
among the several devisees or their legal representatives
according to the provisions of the said will; and the said
return or statement when thus recorded, shall have the
same force and effect in law, as if the partition had been
made by commissioners appointed by any county court of
this state, to divide the real estate of an intestate accord-
ing to the provisions of the act of eighteen hundred and
twenty, chapter one hundred and ninety-one, entitled/an
act to amend and reduce into one system the laws to di-

rect descents; provided, that the said clerk shall be au-
thorized to charge and receive the same fees for recording
the said statement or return as he may now do for the
recording of deeds.
