Preamble.
|
Preamble and Resolution in relation to the location of the
Office of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company.
WHEREAS, certain differences of opinion are under-
stood still to prevail between the agents of this State in
joint stock companies, and the directors of the Chesa-
peake and Ohio Canal Company, in regard to the loca-
tion of the office of said company, therefore, to quiet all
such differences, and to put the said question at rest,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
As the sense of this Legislature, that the office of the
said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company remnin at
Cumberland, where it now is, until the completion of
the said canal to that place.

Preamble.
|
Preamble and Resolution in favor of the Trustees of
Denton Academy and Female School, of Caroline
County.
WHEREAS, it has been represented to this Legislature,
that the trustees of the Denton Academy and Female
School, in said town, in Caroline county, could not pro-
cure teachers at the beginning of the present year,
thereby depriving the schools of the State donation for
paid schools, according to the act of Assembly, eighteen
hundred and thirty-one, chapter two hundred and forty-
four; and whereas, it is represented that they have ob-
tained teachers since the commencement of the present
year — Therefore,

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the orphans court of Caroline county are hereby autho-
rised to pay the trustees of said schools the proportion
pf said funds, as if said schools had been in operation
at the beginning of the present year.
