CHAPTER 5.

Passed Jan.
7, 1847.

An act to allow Henry L, Carlton, late collector of
Prince George's County, further time to complete his

collections.

Time allowed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Henry L. Carlton, late collector of
taxes in Prince George's county be, and he is hereby
authorised and empowered to collect any and all taxes
or balances of taxes now remaining due and uncollected
by him in the County aforesaid, in the same manner and
with the same privileges and powers he could or might
have done within the time limited by law.

Make affidavit.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry L.
Carlton shall, in every instance, before he proceeds to
collect any taxes or balances of taxes, under and by vir-
tue of this act, make affidavit before some justice of the
peace in said county, that the same remains unpaid, and
that he hath not received any security or satisfaction for
the same, or any part thereof, more than the credits that
may be allowed thereon.

In force one
year.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not con-
tinue in force longer than one year from the date of the
passage thereof.

CHAPTER 6.

8, 1847.

An act to change the name of Andrew Maley, to that of
Andrew Jackson Maley.

ged.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name of Andrew Maley, of Alle-
gany county, be, and the same is hereby changed and
altered unto that of Andrew Jackson Maley, and it shall
and may be lawful for the said Andrew Maley, at all
times hereafter to be called and known by and hold and
use the name of Andrew Jackson Maley, and by that
name to sue and be sued in any court of law or equity.

Acts made va-
lid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all securities, con-
tracts, promises, assurances, deeds and legal acts what-
soever hereafter to be made and done by the name of
Andrew Jackson Maley, shall be of the same force and
effect, and equally avail to all intents and purposes as if
