1852.

of Messrs. Elmore and King as counsel to represent the
interest of the State of Maryland, under the will of John
McDonough, late of the city of New Orleans, in the
courts of Louisiana, be and the same hereby is approv-
ed and confirmed, and that the said counsel be instructed
to take all proper steps in the name and on behalf of
the State of Maryland, to assert and enforce its rights
and interests under the said will.

CHAP. 8.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it is the declared
intention of this State to assent to, and to accept, the
bequest and devise made to it by the said will.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the compensation
to said counsel, shall be such only as the Legislature
may allow after the services of said counsel shall have
been performed.

CHAPTER 7.

Compensa-
tion.

AN ACT to change the name of John, Truman
Stoddert Bowie, of Prince George's county, to John
Truman Stoddert.

Passed Feb.
11, 1852.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the name of John Truman Stod-
dert Bowie, of Prince George's county, be and the
same is hereby changed to John Truman Stoddert, and
that it shall be lawful for the said John Truman Stod-
dert, at all times hereafter, to be called and known by,
and hold and use the name of John Truman Stoddert,
and by that name to have the right to purchase, sell, con-
vey, devise or receive properly hereafter devised, to sue
and be sued in any court of law or equity.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 8.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise the renewal of certain Certi-
ficates of State Stock therein mentioned.
