CHAPTER 272.

Passed March
9, 1858.

AN ACT amendatory of an act passed at the
January Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-
six, chapter two hundred and ninety-nine,
entitled an act requiring Joshua H. Hynes'
Samuel P. Storm, and Pleasant Hunter'
late Sheriffs of Baltimore County, to make
statements to the Comptroller of the amount of
State Taxes due from them, and to pay the
same into the Treasury at such times, and on
such conditions as are therein provided.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Joshua H. Hynes, late Sheriff of Bal-
timore county, has paid the whole amount of
State Direct Taxes for the year ending eigh-
teen hundred and fifty, charged to him as Col-
lector thereof, in compliance with the provi-
sions of the act, to which this act is a supple-
ment, with the exception of the sum of five
hundred and twenty-six dollars and thirteen
cents, of uncollected tax, touching which a con-
troversy has existed, and is now pending with
parties upon whose property the same was as-
sessed, Therefore,

Comptroller
authorised to
release.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That when the said Joshua H.
Hynes, late Sheriff of Baltimore county, shall
have finally settled his accounts with the Comp-
troller, and shall have paid into the Treasury the
amount with which he remains charged for State
Direct Taxes placed in his hands for collection,
together with such interest as may be received by
him on such remaining amount, the Treasurer
and Comptroller shall be, and they are hereby
authorised and directed to give a release to the
said Joshua H. Hynes, in manner and form pro-
vided in the third section of the act, entitled an
act requiring Joshua H. Hynes, Samuel P. Storm,
and Pleasant Hunter, late Sheriffs of Baltimore
county, to make statements to the Comptroller of
the amount of State Taxes due from them, and
to pay the same into the Treasury at such times
and on such conditions as are herein provided,
