Relative to build-
ing light house on
Bodkin point.

No. 48.
Whereas, it appearing to this general assembly, that the erection of a light-
house on the Bodkin Point in this state, would be of great importance to the com-
merce of the United States, by rendering the navigation of the Chesapeake-Bay
more secure; therefore,
Resolved, That our senators and representatives in congress be and they are
hereby requeued, to use their best endeavours to procure a light-house to be
erected on the Bodkin-Point in this state
Resolved, That the governor be and he is hereby requested, to transmit a copy
of the above resolution to the senators and representatives of this state in congress.

ter to the state.

No. 49.
Resolved, That the printer to the state be allowed twenty days, in addition
to the time limited by law, for printing the laws and votes and proceedings of the
present session, and that the treasurer of the western shore advance to him the
sum of seven hundred dollars, a part of the salary allowed him on the civil list
for the present year, upon his giving bond and security as required by the law of
December session 1816, ch. 98.

Auditor.

Resolved, That the governor be and he is hereby authorised and empower-
ed, to take the bond of the Auditor of the state, in the penalty heretofore requir-
ed, with such sureties as he shall approve.

No. 51.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to John Brewer, clerk
of the house of delegates, to Richard Harwood, chief clerk of the senate, to John
R. Pitt, assistant clerk to the house of delegates, and to John N. Watkins, assis-
tant clerk of the senate, the sum of one hundred dollars each, as an additional
compensation for their extraordinary services during the present session.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Jonathan Waters, a
revolutionary soldier, in quarterly payments during life, the half pay of a private.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, to pay to Thomas Turner of Montgomery county, or his order, annually,
in quarterly payments, a sum of money equal, to the half pay of a private, for his
services during the revolutionary war.

Minitree.

No. 54.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, to pay to Paul Minitree, an old soldier of Charles county, or to his order,
annually, in quarterly payments, a sum of money equal to the half pay of a pri-
vate, for his services during the revolutionary war.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby autho-
rised and required, to pay to James Hewitt, or to his order, the half pay of a pri-
vate, in quarterly payments during life.

Wm. Damsell.

No 56.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby direct-
ed, to pay to captain William Damsell, of Cecil county, or his order, out of any
unappropriated money in the treasury, the sum of ninety-five dollars and sixty-four
cents, being the amount of the damages and costs recovered from him by a certain
Thomas Rutter in Cecil county court, at the April term thereof, in the year eigh-
teen hundred and seventeen, in consequence of the said William Damsell having
impressed the horse of said Thomas Rutter, at the instance of his superior officer,
during the late war, which said horse was never afterwards restored to the said
Thomas Rutter.

mon Griffith.

No. 57.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby direct-
ed, to pay to Philemon Griffith, an old revolutionary officer, or to his order, an-
nually, in quarterly payments, during life, a sum of money equal to the half pay
of a major.

Head.

No. 58.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, to pay, out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, to John Head,
an old revolutionary soldier, or his older annually, in quarterly payments, a sum
of money equal to the half pay of a private, as a further remuneration for his ser-
