or Dorchester County for not less than six months immediately pre-
ceding the first day of the tonging season. In order to take or catch
oysters in the waters of Talbot County, a person who is sixty-five
years of age or over must have resided within the limits of Talbot
County for not less than six months immediately preceding the first
day of the tonging season.

(b) [The county commissioners of any county are hereby author-
ized to give to any woman who has no visible means of support
special written permission which shall constitute a license, to take
or catch oysters with tongs from any natural oyster bar of this State,
and no fee shall be charged for such permission.] No woman and no
person more than sixty-four years of age shall be required to pay the
license fee specified in subsections (d) and (g) of this section.

702.

(a) Any person who shall employ any boat in taking or catching
oysters by dredge from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, as defined
in this subtitle, shall first obtain a Chesapeake Bay dredging li-
cense for such boat [; provided, however, that no such person shall
be deemed to be in default under the provisions of this subsection
until the lapse of thirty days from the beginning of the season where
he shall take or catch such oysters].

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

CHAPTER 177
(House Bill 37)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 705 (a) of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Natural Resources", subtitle "Oysters and Clams", to reduce
the quantity of shucked oyster shells that oyster packers and deal-
ers shall give to the State of Maryland, and correcting an error
therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 705(a) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", subtitle "Oysters
and Clams", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

705.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation hav-
ing a fixed place of business, buying oysters and employing labor
to prepare them for market to engage in the business of buying, sell-
ing, marketing, packing or canning oysters without first taking out
a license to engage in such business by application to the [Commission
of Tidewater Fisheries of Maryland] Department. Where any such
person, firm or corporation operates more than one house for the
buying, selling, marketing, packing or canning of oysters, a separate
