    On the fourth day of June One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Three  Then
       came the within Names Rich.d William Wells before us The Subscribers Two
       Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel County in the State of Maryland and acknowledged
       The within Instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the Lands and Premises within
       mentioned to be the right Title and Estate of the within Named James Pattison his
       heirs and assigns According to the True Intent and Meaning thereof  And the Act of assembly
       in such Case made and Provided  At the same Time Came Mary Wells
       wife of the Within Named Richard W.m Wells and being privately Examined out
       of the hearing of her said Husband  Acknowledged that she released her right
       of Dower to the lands and Premises within Mentioned freely and willingly without
       being Induced thereto by fear Threats or Ill usage of her said Husband of fear of his
       Displeasure  According to the Act of Assembly  In such Cases made and Provided

       This Indenture made this Twelfth day of July in the Year of our Lord One
       Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three  Between John Johns of Ann Arundel
       County Gentleman son of the within Susanna Johns of the one part and the s.d Susanna
       Johns of West river in the County afd widow of Kinsey Johns Esquire and Daughter
       of M.r Rich.d Galloway both deceased of the Other part  Whereas the said Susanna
       Johns by Deed bearing date the day next before the day of the date of these presents
       reciting that Whereas Samuel Galloway Grandfather of the afd Susanna Johns
       by his Last will & Testament did among Other things Give and devise unto the
       afd Rich.d Galloway his son & his heirs Lawfully begotten by his Body or such of
       them as he should think most worthy a Tract of Land Called Tree Stone lying at
       The Head of West river afd Formerly taken up by Thomas Ford saving such
       part thereof as James White Sold to John Waters since the dividing Line was
       agreed on Between Elizabeth Waters & him the said Samuel Galloway also
       all That Tract of Land adjoining to the aforesaid Tract called Tree Stone Known &
       held by the Names of Addition with all surplus Lying between the Ancient Surveys
       Together also with that part or Parcell of Land before Mentioned and Expressed in his
       the said Samuel Galloways bequest & Decease to his son out of Comberstone which
       Lyeth on the southside of a Branch Called Cumbers Branch and adjoining to the
       Land  Then in Possession of Elizabeth Waters  That whereas Samuel Galloway
       by his said Last will ^did^ direct  That his Moiety or half part of That Tract of Land
       Purchased by him and Gerrard Hopkins of Joseph Gates & his wife and Jane their
       Daughter dwelling in the Kingdom of England together with his The said Sam.l's
       part of the Vacant Land which he and the said Gerrard had taken or were to take
       up adjoining thereto and lying between The head of South River & Patuxent  The
       said Tract being had and Called by the Name of Whites hall should be Equally divided
       in four parts one part of which & the first Choice he gave to his son Richard Galloway
       & his heirs forever with a Limitation over Notwithstanding in Case his son
       Richard should happen to die before he disposed thereof and without Heirs and with
       a Restriction that he should not sell or dispose of the said Part but to his
       Brothers John Joseph or Peter  That whereas the said Susanna Johns was
