       State of Maryland Washington County to wit:
                      I hereby certify that John Cook Esq before whom the
above acknowledgment was made and who hath thereunto subscribed his
name was at the time of so doing one of the Justices of the Peace of the
State of Maryland in and for said County duly elected Commissioned
and sworn
       (Seals)      In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
       (Place)      my name and affix the seal of the Circuit Court for
said County this 27.th day of September A. D. 1856

       To
John O'Donnell
       Know all men by these
   presents that I Robert Fowler of
  Baltimore City & State of Maryland for
 and in consideration of the sum of five
hundred dollars Current money of the
                   United States to me in hand paid by John O'Donnell of Howard
County and State aforesaid at & before the sealing & delivery of
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have
granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain
& sell unto the said John O'Donnell his executors administrators
& assigns a certain negro boy Daniel who will be eleven
years old on the first day of October Eighteen hundred & fifty
six 1856 to serve until he shall arrive at the age of twenty
eight years which by reference to the last will and testament of
William Booth of Washington County & State aforesaid will
more fully appear.  Also reference to a Bill of Sale from
Margaret Booth of Washington County & State aforesaid to the
said Robert Fowler will more fully explain & show
    To Have and To Hold the above described Negro Boy Daniel
unto the said John O'Donnell his executors administrators
& assigns for the above period of time and no longer.  And I
the said Robert Fowler for myself my heirs executors and
administrators the said negro Boy Daniel as aforesaid unto
the said John O'Donnell his executors administrators & assigns
against me the said Robert Fowler my Executors & administrators
& against all & every other person or persons will & shall
warrant & defend by these presents.      In witness whereof
we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 25.th day of
September 1856
