do hereby acknowledge and have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain
and sell unto the said Napoleon B Welsh his heirs
and assigns all the following goods and chattels
to Wit one red and white cow one red and white
or roan cow two red stears one black heifer one
black and white bull twelve sheep eight hogs
two sows fifteen pigs one bay horse (cappd)
two shoes one three horse plow two shovel plows
one cook stove one bedstead bed and bedding
two wash stands one looking glass all my part
right title interest and claim of in and to all the
wheat and rye upon the farm whereof I now reside
and also all my oats and likewise all my corn Potatoes
buckwheat and tobacco growing and also my tobacco now
on hand all and singular which said goods & chattels
are now in my possession  To Have and To Hold all
and singular the said goods chattels and effects above mentioned
and other the premises hereby bargained and sold or meant
and intended hereby so to be unto the said Napoleon B Welsh
his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own use and
benefit and to and for no other use intent or purpose
whatsoever   In testimony whereof I the said Thomas
Hatfield have hereto set my hand and seal on this
twenty sixth day of July eighteen hundred and fifty six

On this 26.th day of July 1856 before me a Justice of the
Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard
County personally appeared Thomas Hatfield He
being by me well known to be the person who is named
and described as and professing to be the party grantor
to the foregoing bill of sale or instrument of writing
and whose proper signature is thereto subscribed and acknowledged
the same to be his act and deed; And at the
same time personally appeared Napoleon B
Welsh the party grantor named in the said bill of
sale and made oath on the Holy Evangely of
almighty God that the consideration mentioned in
said bill of sale or instrument of writing is true and bona fide
as therein set forth      Acknowledged and sworn before me
on the date aforesaid                              Reuben Warfield
