that the said Mary Jane Scott doth place and bind our her son
George W. Scoot who was born the 4.th day of March 1842
to learn the farming bissiness in all it verious branches to
serve untill he shall arrive at the age of 21 years:  And
the said Napoleon B. Welsh on his part do hereby promise
Covenant and agree to teach and instruct the said apprentice
or cause him to be taught and instructed in the art of a farmer
the best way or means he can and allso to teach and
instruct the said George W. Scott or cause it to be done
to read write cypher &c as far as the rule of three; and
shall well and faithfully find and provide for the said
apprentice during the term for which he is bound good
sufficient meat drink clothing lodging and other necessaries
fir and convenient for such an apprentice during the term
aforesaid; and at the expiration thereof shall give unto
the said apprentice two suits of clothing one sutable for
labour and the other sutible for sunday      In testimony
whereof we have set our hands and seals     her

       I hereby Certify that the parties whose signatures are
attached to this Indenture acknowledged the act to be bon
fide for the true intent and meaning contained in the
within Indenture      Given under my hand this 27.th day of
March 1857

Know all men by these presents
that Ignatius Waters of Howard
County and State of Maryland for
and in consideration of the sum
of five hundred dollars lawful
money of the United States in hand paid by John S. Brown
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged:  have granted bargained
and sold and by these ^presents^ do grant bargain and sell unto the
said John S. Brown his executors administrators and
assigns the following property to wit; one Sorrel horse, 1
Carriage & harness, one Cart & harness, one Fan, one Corn
