Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for
Frederick County duly elected Commissioned and Sworn
                         In Testimony Whereof I hereunto Subscribe
       (Seals)       my name and affix the seal of the Circuit
       (Place)      Court for Frederick County this 28th day
                        of May A D 1858

Deed of Manumission to
Samuel Mary & Fannie
 To all whom it may concern be it
Known that I Doct Jonathan Waters
of Howard County in the state of Maryland
for divers good causes and considerations
                    me thereunto moving do hereby liberate manumit
                    and set free and by these presents do hereby release
                    from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following
                    named negroes when they shall severally arrive to the ages
                    herein specified or mentioned them and their increase respectively
                    Samuel aged five years & four months to serve to
                    the age of twenty eight years mary aged five years to
                    serve to the age of sixteen years.  Fannie or Frances aged
                    three years and four months to serve to the age of twenty
                    eight years and I do declare them to be thereafter free
                    manumitted and discharged from all manner of service
                    or servitude to me my heirs Executors or Administrators
                    forever.  In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand
                    and affixed my seal this fifth day of June in the year
                    of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight

                    Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this fifth
                    day of June one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight
                    personally appeared Dr Jonathan Waters he being known
                    to us as the party to the within Instrument of Writing
                    before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County
                    and state aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be
                    his act and deed ^for the purposes within mentioned^ and the negroes within named to be
                    manumitted and discharged from all service to him
                    or any one claiming under him and to be free and
