Dr. Littleton Macklin
Treasurers Bond
approved by the Commissioners
Nov 12 1858
 Know all men by these presents that
we Littleton Macklin William James Walters
Philip Smallwood, Samuel Cissel and
Thomas McCrea all of Howard County
and the state of Maryland are held and
firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just
sum of ten thousand dollars current money to be paid to the said
state or to its certain attorney or assigns to which payment well and
truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us and each
of our heirs executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole
jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our
seals and dated this eighth day day of November in the year of
our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty eight
Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above
bounden Littleton Macklin shall faithfully execute his office
as Treasurer of Howard County and well and Truly account for
and pay over to the Treasurer of Maryland the several sums of
money which he shall receive or be accountable for at
such times as the law directs then this obligation to be null
and void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue

  Bill of Sale to
John M. Warfield
 I John Orem of Howard County
Maryland in consideration of one hundred
and twenty five dollars paid me by John
M Warfield do hereby bargain and sell to
the said John M Warfield my negro girl
Sophia Burgess to serve until the fifteenth day of September
eighteen hundred and sixty three; the said negro girl Sophia
Burgess to serve for that term and no longer; the said John
Orem being entitled until the expiration of that date.  Witness
our hands and seals this twenty sixth day of October eighteen
hundred and fifty eight
